So talking to my family and Christina and Hailee was pretty much
thee
greatest part of this week! I miss them so much! It was really
weird
to think that was my last time talking to them! In less than 5
months
I'll get to see all of them :D
Here's a good story-
So our investigator David (you know, the miracle one who is
getting
baptized after 3 weeks of us teaching him) calls us every single
day
without fail. Usually 3-4 times a day. On Friday he called us
and told
us that he and his roommates had gotten robbed (which isn't that
surprising because one of them is in a gang...). Then the next
day was
his interview. We had told him the day before when it was and
everything. But he wasn't answering his phone! We were FREAKING
OUT!
The whole entire day he wasn't answering and it was going to
voicemail.
So of course, all of the crazy things go through our heads. Both
Sister Bennett and I both thought he was dead for sure! We had a
member go over there to pick him up for his interview and he
couldn't
get a hold of him either! He's always home!
Ah.
It's was so freaky.
You should have heard some of the sinarios we were thinking up.
Anyways. So all day Saturday, nothing. So we cancelled the
interview
annnnnnd it had been a really long day so we went and got some
pizza
and ice cream for dinner.
When one of our roommates comes home she looked in the freezer
and
said- "sisters, how was your day." We looked and her
and told her it
wasn't so great and told her all about it. Then she said-
"well that
explains the ice cream in the fridge."
We are such women.
It's awesome haha
So went went to bed pretty early that day (we had woken up at
5:30 for
our race so we we're beat).
The next morning we see 4 missed calls and 2 voicemails, we
thought
they were from David, but one was from our ward mission leader
and the
rest from our zone leaders (who are serving in our ward). Sister
Goodman (one if our roommates) tells us that last night the
elders had
knocked on our door, in their pajamas, at like 9:45ish. She was
the
only one awake so it kind of freaked her out! Haha but they were
freaking out about us! They had tried to call and we didn't
answer (we
were all dead asleep) and they just had all these crazy thoughts
going
through their heads that we had been kidnapped or something
(that
sounds crazy, but we were thinking WAY crazier things about
David
haha). So they were laying in bed and then they were so worried
that
they ran to their car to come over here and check on us! We have
such
awesome elders!! They're so sweet! We feel SO bad that we made
them
feel that way especially because we knew what that felt like
because
of all the events of the day...
So Sunday morning comes and he's supposed to get baptized right
after
church! We still are calling him and he's not answering! Our
Elders
said they would do the interview right before church if we still
wanted to do it. But we couldn't get a hold of him... The elders
told
us not to go into our sketchy area anymore, which is where we
are all
the time (but from what they had heard about the guns and the
gang,
and how we were worried something crazy happened to David... It
makes
sense.... Plus they had basically just had a heart attack over
us the
day before) but we needed to know what happened to David. So-
the
elders drove their car and met us at David's to knock on the
door and
see what was going on. His roommate answered and said he was in
the
shower! What!? It was so weird (his roommate was pretty
intimidated by
the elders though it was pretty funny haha...)
Long story short, David shows up for church and we all about
died. We
chastised him for turning his phone off and he just laughed. He
liked
that we were worried about him. He even called us later that day
and
said- "sisters, this is David. I'm okay! Don't worry."
Haha he's
awesome.
But he's getting baptized tomorrow right before Sister Orfila
leaves
to go back to temple square!
It was cool because we talked about the whole situation with the
elders. How we thought that we should go over to David's and how
we
all felt like there was something really wrong. We realized that
The
Lord was testing us. We've been wanting things to build and
strengthen
our faith and help us follow the spirit more. So this was it!
Heavenly
Father was testing us to see if we would follow the promptings
he'd
given us. And we passed! :D even though nothing came of it, we
all
still followed those, and now Heavenly Father can trust us with
things
a lot bigger. :)
We ran in a race on Saturday and I got to run for my Dad :) I
had it on my shirt, I'll send a pic so you can see :) there were 7,500
people at the race and they raised over 500,000$! Crazy right!? It was really
cool to be a part of it all!
I love you all!
Espeically my amazing mom :) thanks for always showing me that I
can be myself and be a representative of Jesus Christ ;)
Love, Sister Calder
Also- our mission office has moved, so don't send letters there
anymore or they will never get to me (mom could you change this
on the
blog).
